MARK A DOOLEY SCHOLARSHIP
AWARD PRESENTATION
The late Mark A. Dooley, along with his wife, Doris, owned and operated Creditors Service Agency in Lynchburg, Virginia. Mr. Dooley was one of the founding members of the Virginia Collectors’ Association and he was an active member of ACA International, The Association of Credit and Collection Professionals. Mark was a true gentleman, a jovial, compassionate man, and a mentor for many young credit professionals. He was very involved in collection legislation and helped establish licensing for collection agencies in Virginia. In addition, he was a liaison between Virginia collection agencies and the Virginia state legislature, helping to establish laws that protect the collection industry today. Mark Dooley was loved by his employees, and respected for his work ethic and service to community. Having no children to inherit the family business, at his retirement Mr. Dooley generously passed his business to his three female employees. The annual Mark A. Dooley Memorial Scholarship was started by the Virginia Collectors’ Association to honor Mr. Dooley for his many years of service to the community and to the credit and collection industry.
